In Tutiki ;-) from Niko's Cafe is a nice well illustrated instructions for USM in CNX. Unsharp masking can be an alternative to the well using the high pass filter. See also previous post.
There are at Ron Bigelow a step-by-step instructions for using the USM tool. This tutorial is designed for Photoshop, but can be analogously applied to CNX.
